WhatsApp introduces quotes to replies
The leading instant messaging client WhatsApp has introduced a new feature for its Android beta testers that lets its users to quote a specific message and reply to it. This update has been spotted in Android beta version 2.16.118.
The new WhatsApp feature basically allows users to add context to a message, wherever it is needed.
This WhatsApp update is available for both person-to-person chat and groups. It is dead easy to use. The user who wants to use this feature needs to first select a particular message to quote (This could be either a text message or a multi-media message. Once they have selected the desired message they will have to long press the message. Now they will notice few icons (options) appear on the top bar.
The next step is very very easy. Just select the Reply (Icon) option and WhatsApp will show a preview with the quoted message, and a small box to enter the reply. All a user needs to do now is type the reply and press send.
“Once you’ve sent your reply, it will show up inside the conversation with the original quoted message attached on top of it, along with the sender’s color-coded name,” says Android Police. WhatsApp will give different color codes to the participants in a group, which actually make the this feature best suited for all the group chats happening in WhatsApp.
