HTML Tags

Before reading this tlog make sure that you know  about HTML?
HTML tags are left and right angle brackets that are used to enclose special instructions.
There are two classes or categories of tags
First Category : Tags that appear in pair.
Example :  <tag_name> content </tag_name>

Second Category : Tags that don’t appear in pair
Example: <tag_name>

Generally, we call <tag_name> as start tag or opening tag and </tag_name> as end tag or closing tag.
The browsers are responsible to interpret the tags, so as to display the web document in a proper format.
Points to be kept in mind while using tags..

  • Some tags may have one or more attributes. These attributes define some kind of additional characteristics of that tag.
  • Browsers ignores all extra spaces it accepts only one space per content.
  • Tags can be nested
  • TAGS are case in-sensitive.
  • Browser ignores that tags which were not recognized during interpretation.

The following table provides a list of the elements or tags that are supported in HTML 5 . This list is basically based on World Wide Web Consortium HTML5 specification, but may also include elements or tags that are only in the WHATWG HTML Living Standard.
